g.spot Asks: What Makes You Proud of Your Mom?

Every mom is the best. For Mother's Day, we give space for five Cebuanas to sound off with messages of love and gratitude for their lovely moms.

Being a mom is never an easy job; it’s exhausting and soul-sucking, but at the same time, it’s inspiring and purpose-giving. Through it all, a mother’s love is unconditional and certainly never-ending. And we are extremely lucky and proud to call them our moms — the most important people who shaped us into who we are today.

What makes you proud of your mom? g.spot asked five lovely ladies about the things that make them proud of their mothers, together with a small message that they wish to tell their mom’s on this special day.

Marion Rio

My mom is the most resilient person I know in my entire life. She faces all of the challenges that life throws at her head-strong and I never saw her give up once. My mother inspires me to be self-sustaining. She taught me how to be independent and at the same time, she also taught me how to care for others who we love.

Hi, Ma. Salamat sa tanan. I hope you will always remember that everything I do, I do it for you and Dad. You have provided me with so much and I will forever be grateful for that. I can’t wait to be able to give back to you soon. I love you!

Lorraine Arguilles

Hands down to her bravery. My mother went through so many storms but managed to overcome every one of them, and I admire her for that. No matter how hard it got, not to mention she was alone during these fights, she still managed to stand up and provide for our needs.

Fueled with love, care, and tenderness. From birth until today, my mother never stopped showering us with her tender loving care. Just so you guys know, I’m a troublemaker. But despite that, she still loves me.

Ilaw ng Tahanan. I believe every mother is truly a ilaw ng tahanan. When I start to feel lost, one of the things that actually comfort me is my mother.

I hope and pray she will live a longer life so I can pay back all of the things she did for me and my sisters. She is one of my inspirations and one of the few people who molded me to be who I am today. I love her and I am very proud of her.

Nicole Torrepalma

My mom is admirable because she stands for the truth and believes in herself. She’s not easily swayed by people’s negativity; rather it pushes her to work hard and focus on opportunities that matter most. Moreover, she does not shy away from learning as she believes that it is part of life.

Although we aren’t expressive of our appreciation with your love and care, I just want to use this opportunity to say that WE SEE YOU, MA. We have felt every sincere action and guidance that you have done for us through the years. You have been very supportive in our decisions and advocacies in life. We’re very lucky to have you! We love you, Ma <3 Happy Mother’s Day!

Michaela Alcordo

I’m proud of the fact that she is such a hardworking woman. She was a nurse and decided to quit her job to take care of my siblings and I. She’s also really adventurous and loves to try new things. I’ve always admired how brave she’s always been whenever she puts herself out there.

I’d tell her that she shouldn’t just be celebrated on Mother’s Day, but every day of her life because of how much of an amazing person she is. I’d also tell her that it’s her time to shine and that I love her.

Francesca Fernandez

Aside from her resilience, my mom has always taught us to look beyond material wealth. We learned from her the importance of having a kind heart and finding ways to serve others. She has also quietly faced a lot of trials in her life while always putting her family first.

Thanks for my life. Without you, I wouldn’t have experienced the beauty in it. Thanks for believing in us no matter how much we disappoint you with our choices. And thanks for letting us experience life under your strong guidance.

g.spot wishes all the mothers out there a Happy Mother’s Day.
