Following the success of its initial offerings of Beef Shank Kare-Kare and Bicol Express, Cebu-based company Plantation Prime is set to add more delicious dishes with its second canning line.
Chili con Carne, Go-Anywhere Chicken Curry, and Vegetable Medley Masala are three new varieties that will be offered in Plantation Prime cans. These will be distributed in major supermarkets in Cebu and Manila, retail online, and will soon be exported to Dubai and Australia.
The daring concept of Plantation Prime is to translate popular but time-consuming dishes into a canned form that is competitive with restaurant quality — delicious food, already fully-prepared, with none of the mess and bother of restaurant takeout. The company especially targets Filipinos living abroad, who long for Filipino food but lack the time, skill, or ingredients to make it.
While Philippine meat products are not permitted for wholesale export to the United States, residents can easily declare them with US Customs and carry them in their luggage. Plantation Prime has received assurance from the United States Department of Agriculture that its canned products are admissible for personal consumption.
Since its launch in 2020, the Beef Shank Kare-Kare has been positively received around the world, while Bicolanos have proclaimed their canned Bicol Express, “as good as it gets—but needs more chili!” In response, CEO Brian Noel explains the need to make it palatable for all Filipinos. “If you want it hotter, just add crushed sili.”
Plantation Prime recently inaugurated its second mini-plant, which is Halal-certified, just in time to fulfill its first export orders bound for Dubai and Australia. The export push is consistent with the slogan on its product labels, “Serving the Global Filipino from the Visayan Archipelago.”
Meanwhile, Plantation Bay Resort continues to make waves in Cebu. It was recently included in Travel & Leisure’s Top 10 Philippine Beach Resorts— the only mainstream (non-boutique) hotel on the list that is Filipino-owned and managed. Plantation Bay’s Executive Chef, Lee Ramas, is a special culinary advisor to Plantation Prime.
Plantation Prime products are available for purchase in Landers, The Marketplace, and Metro Supermarkets. They are also available online through Lazada and Shopee. For more details, like their Facebook page.
