5 Personal Hacks on Styling That Black Blazer at Work

Don't let a uniform stop you from being fashionable. Joymie Arnaiz curates five ways to slay your corporate looks.

Stuck with boring outfits in the corporate world of black and white?  You might want to consider upgrading your business look! Transform your uniform into something stylish without breaking the business attire codes of your company.

If your job only allows you to wear a black blazer and bottoms with limited options for white and other muted color accents, then it is certainly a challenge to spice up your daily office look. But no, it doesn’t mean you are doomed to wearing dull and mundane outfits.

Below are five of my personal hacks on how to style and pair that basic black blazer for a more elevated look at work.

Buckle Up

Throw some curves. Wearing a belt like this gold-plated buckle will not only emphasize your waist but will also add elegance to your rather basic black and white demeanor.

Go Big or Go Home

Oversize is the word. Tailored fit and body-hugging blazers and pants can be too mainstream. Add volume to your look: go for oversized blazers and flared trousers. Keep everything in balance though to avoid looking baggy at work.

Act of Embellishment

If printed clothes are a no-no in the office, on top of the no loud colors policy, you can add more texture to your outfit by embellishing. Pair your black blazer with a pearl-adorned top, wear some metal-decorated neck lines, or go pin that brooch instead if you don’t have many options.

Invest in Vest

Waistcoats are not just for men, they’re for women too! Personally, I think women who wear vests with a blazer look smarter. So go wear that vest like a true-blooded career woman or layer it with a white buttoned shirt underneath if you want.

Blazer with a Twist

Wear a cloak blazer, a split-sleeve one, or a shawl-collar blazer. Anything that does not fall under the “typical style” category is certainly something that would break the monotony of a basic office look.

Don’t stay in the gray area wearing bland clothes at work. Give your office look a lift because when you feel good about yourself and with what you wear, great things come along for the rest of your day.
